Adventures Close to Home is an occasional purveyor of independent, DIY and non-profit events in interesting and unusual spaces in Oxford, UK.
It is run by Emma and Rob. We’re fans of (amongst others): K, Fence, Dischord, Kill Rock Stars, Drag City, Marriage (both the record label and the abstract concept, if that’s for you), Tracer Trails / Archive Trails, Phil Elverum & Sun, That Fucking Tank, Smithsonian Folkways, Volcanic Tongue, Bedroom Community, Soul Jazz, Ethiopiques, Type, Stitch-Stitch, Shackleton (the explorer and the dubstep producer), heritage vegetables, archaic recipes, steampunk synths, harmonium pandemonium, creaks and drones, the way squirrels run, river swimming and the neglected half-wilds on the way to somewhere else.
We aim to put interesting shows in Oxford, with an emphasis on keeping costs low for the audience and payment high for the artists, whilst all having a good time outside of the norms of the mainstream.
